Regional Sport Victoria Launches Sport Development Network
Today we launched the Regional Sport Victoria Sport Development Network – a new initiative focused on strengthening connection, capability and collaboration across the regional sport workforce.
Our first Community of Practice session brought our Regional Sports Assemblies together to share learnings from Sustainable Volunteer Workforce projects happening right across regional Victoria.
It was fantastic to hear directly from funded organisations, including GippSport, South West Sport, Sports Central, Sport North East and Valley Sport, who shared insights, challenges and success stories from their work supporting volunteers and clubs on the ground.
Across the conversation, a clear theme emerged, with the importance of meeting volunteers where they are at – a key success indicator across all projects.
Whether it was providing practical, proactive support to clubs, streamlining the volunteer experience, supporting volunteers to embrace technology, or building capability in a way that strengthens club operations and long-term sustainability – taking a volunteer centric approach was crucial to project implementation and success.
What we love most about bringing our regional workforce together is the power of collective learning – by creating space to share knowledge, test ideas and learn from one another, we’re not just supporting individual projects – we’re building a more connected, resilient and sustainable sport system for regional Victoria.
Lastly, a big thank you to everyone who attended today – what a way to kick off the week with over 30 people from across the Regional Sports Assembly workforce joining us online this morning.
