New RSV Board Members announced at AGM
Regional Sport Victoria (RSV) is pleased to announce the addition of three new directors to its board.
Tom Mottram was recently appointed by the Board to the position – the first occasion that the RSV Board has used its ability to appoint a director.
At RSV’s 2022/23 Annual General Meeting held on 26 October 2023, Chair Dan Poynton announced the election of Sallee Caldwell and Brendan Jones as Elected Directors of the organisation.
Following the AGM, the new Board appointed Carissa Harris as Chair and Dan Poynton as Deputy Chair.
Speaking about the changes to the organisation, the newly appointed Chair expressed a sense of enthusiasm for the opportunities that lie ahead for RSV and the network of nine Regional Sport Assemblies it serves.
“Firstly, I’d like to congratulate and officially welcome Tom Mottram, Sallee Caldwell and Brendan Jones to the Board. I’m really looking forward to working together for the good of RSV, our stakeholders and the entire regional Victoria community,” Harris said.
“These new board members, together with Rick Bell, Dan (Poynton) and myself, bring a wide range of skills, experience and connections to RSV. It is exciting to have such an incredible group working together on the strategic direction of the organisation, in conjunction with our highly capable Executive Officer, Meghan Mayman”.
Harris acknowledged the significant contribution of outgoing Directors Brooke Connolly and David Quinn during their tenure.
“As a result of the election at the 2022/23 AGM, we would like to convey a huge sense of gratitude to Brooke and David who have contributed so much to RSV during their tenure on the Board,” Harris said.
“David spent some of his time on the Board as Treasurer, and both he and Brooke have been integral parts of the organisation’s growth and success over the past few years, and the positive pathway that it now finds itself heading in.
“As the Board embarks on this current period of change, we again thank them for their significant contributions.”
Harris commended the leadership and unwavering dedication of Dan Poynton in his tenure as Chair, noting the significance of continuity as he remains on the Board in the Deputy Chair position.
“Dan’s time in his role as Chair of RSV has shown just how committed he is to the ongoing development, support and advocacy for sport in regional Victoria,” she said.
“That will continue in his role as the Deputy Chair, allowing a smooth transition for the newly formed Board, and to support me in my new role as RSV Chair.
“This succession plan allows for continuity in the organisation through an exciting period of change. RSV is well placed to maintain the positive momentum we have throughout 2024 and beyond.”
“What we have seen over the past few years is a growing need for assisting the sport and recreation sector across regional Victoria. Through our advocacy, engagement, programs, and support RSV has a big role to play in ensuring this need is met.
“As RSV continues to evolve and grow, we look forward to working with the network and stakeholders for the betterment of the regional Victorian community.”
