Regional Grants Kickstart Sport Volunteer Opportunities

Twelve new initiatives are set to open more doors for volunteers and staff to up their skills, confidence, and capability to perform a range of roles across community sport and active recreation in regional Victoria, made possible through the SRV Sustainable Volunteer Workforce Program.

Regional Sport Victoria congratulates all the successful applicants, including the following Regional Sports Assemblies (RSAs):

  • GippSport – Gippsland Regional Community Sport Hubs
  • Sports Central – Lead Connect Grow (boosting the number of women and girls volunteering at grassroots clubs)
  • South West Sport – Transforming grassroots community sport in the south west, through volunteer workforce reform, and digital innovation
  • Valley Sport – Goulburn Valley Club Hubs Pilot

State Sporting Associations (SSAs) will also lead the way on volunteer support projects in regional Victoria, including Touch Football Australia (Victorian Branch), Swimming Victoria, Tennis Victoria, Netball Victoria, AusCycling, Hockey Victoria, Golf Victoria, and The Centre for Continuing Education Inc.

The Sustainable Volunteer Workforce Program backs sport and active recreation sector initiatives and partnerships that help attract and retain volunteers and staff, reduce volunteer workload, and ultimately increase participation opportunities for Victorians on and off the field.

It is part of a new $60 million Regional Community Sport Development Fund that is delivering infrastructure and programs to support more regional Victorian families and children to become and remain physically active.

Increasing sector capability and supporting the development of a highly skilled sport and active recreation workforce that in turn leads to a strong, sustainable industry is a key objective of Active Victoria 2022-2026 – a strategic framework for sport and active recreation in Victoria.
