RSV Youth Summit

Regional Sport Victoria (RSV)  held its first ever Youth Summit across the 12th and 13th of April, 2021. The Youth Summit saw 17 young people from the RSV Youth Advisory Council, (RSVYAC) as well as staff from across the 9 Regional Sports Assemblies take part in a two day, immersive experience.

The event was an opportunity for RSA staff to work directly with regional youth and hear first hand about their experiences in sport and active recreation, including their challenges, pathways and ideas on how sport can best cater for young people. From amazing race activities where staff and young people had to work as teams to problem solve, through to co-designing hypothetical youth programs and initiatives, the two day summit was action packed.

With the goal of  workshopping solutions to increase youth engagement across sport and active recreation in regional Victoria, both the RSVYAC and RSA staff finished the summit feeling powered and ready to advocate for deliberate and ongoing youth engagement amongst the sporting clubs in their regional areas.

A number of youth engagement resources and the RSV Youth Engagement Strategic Framework were launched at the Summit and RSA staff committed to empowering the young people of regional Victoria by signing onto the RSA Network Youth Charter.

Thank you to VicHealth for supporting this important initiative.
