The Office for Women in Sport and Recreation has opened applications for the 2024-25 Change Our Game Professional Development Scholarships Program and Women in Sports Media Program.

2024-25 CHANGE OUR GAME PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIPS PROGRAM

The 2024-25 Change Our Game Professional Development Scholarships Program supports women to develop and strengthen specialist skills necessary to their roles in the sport and active recreation sector, placing them in the best position to obtain and thrive in leadership roles.

The program supports women at different stages of their career pathway, from individuals in the formative early years of their careers, returning from a career break such as parental leave, emerging leaders, executives, and new or aspiring board members and those volunteering or working in community sport and active recreation.

In 2024-25, the program offers six streams:

    • Learning Stream: For individuals in the early years of their paid employment or returning after a career break.
    • Next Generation Leaders Stream: For individuals aspiring to become a CEO or senior executive leader.
    • Women with a Disability Stream: For individuals with disability seeking to progress their career in the sport and recreation sector.
    • Executive Stream: For individuals who hold a CEO position or currently report to a CEO.
    • Governance Stream: for new or aspiring board directors in the sport and active recreation sector.
    • Community Leaders Stream: for women volunteering or working within community sport and active recreation clubs or organisations to develop as community leaders.

2024-25 CHANGE OUR GAME WOMEN IN SPORTS MEDIA PROGRAM

The 2024-25 Change Our Game Women in Sports Media Program is out to shift the dial by providing women who are interested in sports media with the opportunity to develop knowledge about the industry, advance their skills and build their network to progress their career in the industry.

Facilitated by experienced producers Emma Race and Lucy Race from Making The Call, participants are provided with practical skills and access to established industry mentors during a full-day face to face workshop.

This Advancing Career round is for women who are either previous graduates of the program or with exceptional relevant experience in sports media and/or sport industry knowledge, who are seeking to progress career goals and skills in sports media to the next level.

Successful participants can look forward to:

  • enhancing and refining sports media skills, which may include commentary and calling play-by-play, producing for all media, presenting opinion pieces and research and preparation, and
  • developing industry connections to support in securing paid employment in the industry
