Stride into Sport is Back! RSV Working with RSAs and SSAs to Encourage Player, Volunteer and Umpire Participation

Regional Sport Victoria is thrilled to be working together with our member Regional Sport Assemblies to bring back our popular Stride into Sport campaign ahead of the upcoming winter sporting season.

Now in its fourth iteration, Stride into Sport focuses on a return to playing and volunteering, encouraging Victorians to make new memories this winter through local sport and recreation.

By partnering with RSAs who support the sport and recreation sector within their regional catchment, and State Sporting Associations (SSAs), we are helping to boost a return to playing, volunteering, and umpiring/officiating.

“It’s been 18 months since we rolled out our first Stride into Sport campaign, and we are pleased to continue this initiative to help drive player, volunteer, coach, and umpire registrations at sporting clubs and active recreation organisations across Victoria,” RSV Executive Officer Meghan Mayman said.

“We are looking forward to another dedicated campaign highlighting the fantastic benefits of winter sport and recreation both on and off the field. We know the return and recovery of community sport post-COVID has been challenging in many aspects, and we are committed to helping RSAs and state sporting organisations boost local opportunities wherever possible.”

This year’s winter campaign will have a particular focus on promoting volunteers to return to sport, made possible through a grant jointly funded by the Australian and Victorian governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

“There are so many ways to get involved in winter sport and active recreation, whether it be playing, volunteering, coaching or umpiring,” Mayman added. “Stride into Sport shines a light on these opportunities and the many benefits of being part of your local club. Thank you to our participating RSAs and SSAs for helping us inspire more Victorians to take the next strides into sport.”
